Started in 1997 by Helen Read, MS. READ carries trendy and comfortable attire at affordable prices for women who wear sizes 12 through 22. MS. READ’s mission is to be the household name for plus-sizes not only within a particular female community, but to reach far beyond and to break cultural barriers. The goal is for women to feel attractively and comfortably clad in our label. Essentially, the business consists of making available to the plus-sized market clothes to cater for their varied lifestyles. No woman should forego a part of her life she enjoys simply because she cannot find clothes to support it. In this way, MS. READ empowers women to be themselves. MS. READ empowers women to be real women.
The main types of clothing available under the MS. READ label are Career, Casual, and After 5. Careers are carries mainly clothes that women can wear to work. These clothes have a classic, stylish look to them, yet are comfortable. After 5 comprises elegant and distinguished clothes for socials, formal invitations, parties, and such like – evening wear. In all of the clothes, various elements of rich cultural heritages are highlighted and interpreted into the language of fashion. These garments are the MS. READ classics that our customers have come to expect from the brand.
Recently, MS. READ Woman was launched to complement the MS. READ classics. Essentially incorporating, and expanding available MS. READ casuals, MS. READ Woman celebrates the modern woman – free-spirited, and unhindered by society’s expectations. It is about being comfortable in your own skin and having the right kind of attire to match your personality. More importantly, it is an expression of personally style. With a great variety of fine cuts and fabrics, MS. READ Woman features wearable options that give women the freedom to power up in a suit, or run the grocery aisle in denim.
Unlike other retailers, MS. READ is motivated more by customer satisfaction than by profit margins and considers building relationships with its customers to be of paramount importance. In line with enhancing customer satisfaction, MS. READ has two supporting services – personal style consultant, and personal tailoring. Customers who want to reinvent themselves without having to purchase an entire new wardrobe can fix an appointment with MS. READ’s personal style consultant and bring in their existing clothes. Our consultant will help them match it with new merchandise to create the desired look. Customers who find a particular design not available in their size can take down the garment’s code and fix an appointment to have themselves measured. Then, for a small fee they can have that garment tailor-made.
MS. READ has boutiques in Midvalley Megamall, 1 Utama New Wing, Alamanda Putrajaya, and Subang Parade. MS. READ counters can be found in, Sogo, Ampang Point Royel, Parkson Gurney Plaza, Selasih Johore Bahru, ISETANs KLCC, Lot 10, and The Gardens (opening September 24), and Robinsons Singapore (opening September 10), and . The MS. READ boutique in Maju Junction is now a factory outlet. It carries a selection of earlier MS. READ collections, odd sizes, etc. at heavily marked down prices.
With each new store, whether through relocation or opening of a new boutique, MS. READ strives to improve the product and its presentation (i.e. the aspects of service and overall concept). No effort is spared in developing and setting a higher standard – this, in itself, creates a hurdle for competitors. From the customers’ perspective, the brand is continuously striving to reinvent itself to stay ahead of the market trend.
